Think of a beautiful sunny day, blue sky and breeze on your face, nothing better than spending it visiting one of the most beautiful and best preserved Tuscan cities, a real jewel of open-air art and architecture: Lucca.

Famous for its characteristic walls and its many churches (much to be nicknamed "the city of a hundred churches") is only 20 minutes from our B & B, and is easy to reach by public transport or by car . Outside the perimeter of the walls there are many paid parking lots, but with a few more steps (very few) you can park for free at the parking lot in Piazza Aldo Moro in the San Concordio area, and walk into the city directly on foot.
You can walk along the city walls, rich in greenery, meadows, areas for children and a wonderful tree-lined avenue of about 4 kilometers that offers a panoramic view of the city from one glimpse to another, underpasses "secrets", bastions that ve they will certainly love.

The historic center is perfectly preserved, will leave you speechless and will take you back in time ... Here the people of Lucca love to move on foot or by bike and we advise you to do the same, perhaps renting a bike or a nice wheelchair if you are in a group.
The lack of cars inside the walls will make your visit even more enjoyable.

Once inside there is really the embarrassment of the choice of monuments and churches to see; if you have little time it is better to concentrate in the area of ​​the Piazza del Duomo, with the Cathedral of San Martino and its famous funeral monument of Ilaria del Carretto by the hand of Jacopo della Quercia, and the crucifix of the Volto Santo; not to be missed is a stop in the nearby Basilica of San Frediano and the church of San Michele.
From this area you can walk on the shopping street of Lucca, via Fillungo, where luxury shops alternate with old shops full of charm, where you can find gift ideas for everyone.
From here, you reach the Piazza Anfiteatro, which takes its name from its characteristic elliptical shape; you will find a myriad of places where you can eat tasty Tuscan specialties at the table, or even a simple, but very good, sandwich with Tuscan ham and pecorino, or a bit 'of the quaking buccellato, the bread with raisins (which you must absolutely taste!)
Not far away is also the Guinigi Tower, from the characteristic roof garden with the tree in the center that made it famous, and made it a symbol of the city along with the walls; if you have time it is worthwhile to enter the tower, because the view is really beautiful!
